Farm Mission Statement:
Rancho Chico Alpacas is small in size, but BIG in the belief that good quality alpacas can be affordable. We work hard to this extent and continuously strive to improve our herd by introducing THE BEST GENETICS available. As breeders, we believe in improving the genetic pool of our herd and concentrate on improving it with every passing generation. As a business, ALL our alpacas are FOR SALE and we recognize that sale as the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Farm Description:
Rancho Chico Alpacas LLC is a family owned and operated farm since 1999. We are located on Rt 88 North, just 2 miles past beautiful Oglebay Park in Wheeling, WV, next to “Clinton Hills” subdivision, in 15 park-like alpaca heaven acres. We are home to nearly 50 Huacaya and Suri alpacas with genetics from outstanding lines such as: Hemingway, Caligula, El Moustachio, Felix, Leon, Pachacuti, Haldane, Bueno, Timoteo, Guellermo, Royal Fawn, Snowmaster, Accoyo Tiago Primo, Caezar, Sedoso and other great sires. We keep at home Elite fleeced alpacas with vicuna fineness such as Snowmass Black Diamond (AFD < 19 microns at 3.5 years!) and the great grey stud Snowmass Casanova’s Deja Blue. Some of our dams are the finest imports to ever leave Peru or they are direct descendants of them. We have representative genetics from the Accoyo Plantel, Machaccoyoc, Macusani and Cchonchatanca regions. We concentrate our resources in producing vicuna fine fleeces in conformational correct, true to type alpaca. We specialize in individualized attention to both our customers as well as our alpacas and strive to meet each need to full satisfaction.
Farm Directions:
We have easy access from all points! Just take I-70 to Wheeling, WV. Then take the Oglebay Park Exit (Exit 2) which is Rt 88 N and follow this route 2 miles past the Park until you reach Clinton Hills on your left. The farm is the property on your right as you drive up Clinton Drive. You can't miss it! The alpacas will greet you! Our driveway is the first road on your right. Turn and drive here. The house and barn can't be seen from the road.
Note: I would strongly recommend a brief stop at Oglebay Park when visiting us. It is worth the trip, not just for the alpacas!
