Farm Mission Statement:

White Mountain Alpacas

Our goals as an alpaca enterprise are primarily breeding for high quality of fleece, heavy bone, ideal conformation, and consistent genetic quality. We endeavor to design every cria to be an improvement over it's parent, thereby contributing to the continuous advancement of the breed in the USA. To accomplish these goals, we are proud members of the Ideal Alpaca Community, a national alpaca genetic co-operative that seeks to continually improve the national herd through selective scientific breeding based on the highest breed standards.  Our animals are carefully selected and bred to registered Studmaster (tm) males only.  Currently we are part owners of Hemmingway's Bogart, a world-class, young, proven white stud in the Hemmingway line. Bogart is resident with us from March 1 through May 31 and is available for breeding at $2,500 per guaranteed live birth. Free breedings are available with purchase of any of our select females.  We welcome inquiries and ranch visits.  Come see our exceptional selection of animals.  We offer generous terms and discounts for cash, and we are always open to trade offers that create win-win outcomes for your breeding goals and ours.  Call us and talk to us.  Alpacas can be a rewarding part of your life in many ways and with as little or as much committment as you care to give. There is an entry level for every budget.  Whether you are looking for a change of lifestyle, a hands-off investment and tax advantage, a small side business with a second income, or a relaxing and rewarding hobby, there is something for you in the alpaca lifestyle. We are here to answer all your questions. Come see these wonderful, peaceful gentle animals and feel what they can do for you.  GET SOME ALPACA IN YOUR LIFE TODAY!

Farm Description:

White Mountain Alpacas is located on 10 acres in the magnificent Owens Valley in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. We are 35 Miles East of Mammoth Mountain Ski resort at the foot of the 14,450 ft White Mountains. We are located directly on highway 6, 25 miles North of Bishop, CA., easy to find.  Alpacas here enjoy an environment that is similar to their ancestral home in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Our pastures are slightly less than one mile high. The air is clean and dry.   We have over 350 days of sunshine per year, and each animal receives individual attention and regular vet care.  We are dedicated to providing a quality, healthful life for all our animals, and to that extent, we provide the best diet, veterinary care, and careful handling.  We treat our aplacas with respect and gentle treatment, following the principles of Marty McGee Bennett,  and we do not treat them as 'pets'.  They are all halter trained and females come with guaranteed breedings to our Studmaster male, Hemmingway's Bogart.
We welcome ranch visits at any time, and we have plenty of room for those who would like to spend a night at a real working alpaca ranch to get a feel for the lifestyle.
