PASTURE MATING Print this page
Email to a friend
This is the easiest method of mating. You can put a male with several females at one time and he will mate those who are most receptive. By adding and subtracting females from the pasture you can insure that the male’s libido will stay strong. This is the least stressful method of mating for you and your alpacas. The disadvantages include the inability to pin point the exact date of conception. To determine the delivery date you will need to use other means, such as ultrasound testing. Using the results of an ultrasound together with the dates that a female was put in and taken out of the pasture will create an accurate delivery date.
